TWOOLS 14 is a full edition with no fewer than ten titles, in which dancer Loïc Perela presents a choreography and dancer Mischa van Leeuwen shows himself as a choreographer for the first time at his home base, Scapino.
Former dancer Jan Kooijman, who has gained popularity through his acting work and as a member of the jury of the television hit So You Think You Can Dance, also presents an ambitious first choreography.
The common thread is a three-part adaptation of Ed Wubbe's Say Cheese to the Mob, the piece with which he closed the very first TWOOLS in 1999. This year, Wubbe will have been Scapino's artistic director for 20 years.

A successful edition of this risky concept
There is live music by the band King Jack, breakdance icon Juvat Westendorp can be seen as a guest dancer alongside Scapino dancer Sherida Lie, and after a successful first performance during TWOOLS13 the year before, the great talent Felix Landerer returns, with the prospect of a period as a regular guest choreographer with the company. The match proves successful: in 2013 Landerer is nominated for a Swan for Blind Spot, which he made with Scapino. He would go on to win many more awards.
Another special event: it has only happened once in history that a guest choreography from an earlier TWOOLS edition has been reshot. That honour now falls to the solo Laat me met mij meegaan by Voortman & De Jonge, which was originally created for TWOOLS2.
Marcelle Schots, dance critic, writes in Theaterkrant: "Twools 14 is a successful edition of this risky programme concept, not least because of the fantastic dancers who seem to switch effortlessly between all the different aesthetics and styles of movement. And as varied as the pieces are, the quality of most of the choreography is high enough to take the audience immediately in a new direction."
