Maria Voortman & Roberto de Jonge
Rotterdam choreographers Maria Voortman and Roberto de Jonge (1962) have worked together since 1991.
In the nineties, the two made a series of high-profile dance performances on pointe. For Quest for Rest (1993), Voortman / De Jonge won the Rencontres Internationales Choréographiques de Bagnolet Saint Seine-Denis. They made their breakthrough at Scapino Ballet with Dangerous Choir and their version of Les Noces. Voortman and De Jonge also made text theatre and visual art. Their dance film Downstairs was nominated for a Gouden Kalf in 1995.
Voortman / De Jonge are the only guest choreographers to have been included in TWOOLS twice with the same work: Laat me met mij meegaan was created for TWOOLS2 in 1999 and danced by Maria Voortman, for TWOOLS14 in 2012 the solo was resumed and danced by Bryndis Brynjolfsdottir.
