Ashton Benn is a 22-year-old American BFA student in Dance from USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. As a Scapino Young Talent this year, Ashtonn looks forward to blending in and learn from the experienced company members.
For her, "Dance is the art of taking up space in a purposeful way. There is a common saying that the devil is in the details, but I believe it’s the details that make this art form so profoundly impactful. I cherish the unseen and seemingly insignificant moments that elevate dance from movement to artistry: the rush of adrenaline as I carve through space and catch a breeze between my fingers, the feeling of communicating emotion through the flicker of a smile; and the raw power of movement that connects us as human beings. Dance can be everything and more if you choose to see it as such.”
She is a focused and precise dancer, valuing specificity over ambiguity.
Next to dancing, she works as a freelance journalist, she aims to further provide dance with a written platform and to uplift its societal perception, ensuring artists receive the acknowledgment they rightfully deserve.
