Young Talents Program
Scapino's Young Talents Program is one of the most intensive talent development programmes in the Netherlands. Together with the dance academies, including our partner Codarts Rotterdam, we train six top talents every year. In this way, Scapino contributes to a new generation of world-class dancers.
Young talents join Scapino as fully-fledged dancers. They are part of the company and dance in the performances. This gives them the unique opportunity to develop themselves in all aspects of the profession and accelerates the whole learning process: working with choreographers and ballet masters, taking responsibility in the creation process and in the performance on stage.
Intensive and continuous coaching
In the coaching, the young dancers are challenged to take the final step towards the top and transcend themselves. To discover where their true talent lies, they are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and take risks. It is important that they can do this in a professional and safe environment.
The coaching is not limited to a few fixed talks per week, but is a continuous process. In Scapino's pressure cooker, feedback is hands-on and a daily part of rehearsals, by ballet masters, choreographers and experienced dancers. The master-apprentice model is a valuable part of coaching, because dancing requires not only talent but also expertise. Going on tour and dancing along in the performances is the optimal way to become familiar with the professional field and provides a wealth of experience.
