For TWOOLS 4, the second TWOOLS of the 2000-2001 season, artistic director Ed Wubbe has invited a mix of brand new and more established dance makers. By placing their work next to and through each other and interweaving it with a thread of his own, a unique, festival-like evening in the theatre is created. With 75 minutes of non-stop dance - in all its facets.
The choreographers are invited to show their individuality and are given a free hand. The pace of creation is high, and so is the risk. But the makers can all rely on the thirty strong dancers in the company, although they do not have to use them all. A solo, a duet, a handful of dancers or the whole ensemble: it all alternates seamlessly in the TWOOLS programme. The only mark is a quick set change in between.
Hans Dagelet is an actor, musician, poet and artist. With That's It, a solo for the iconic Scapino dancer Mischa van Leeuwen, he is now also making a choreography. Gaël Domenger follows him with his second work for the TWOOLS series: So And So.
After her successful full-length work earlier this season, The Neon Lounge, the young resident choreographer Nanine Linning presents a reprise of her piece Mono/Stereo as part of TWOOLS 4. Thom Stuart, who has been running The Dutch Don't Dance Division in The Hague with Rinus Sprong for five years now, is represented with two pieces: Weena for seventeen dancers to music by the band Primal Scream, and an adaptation of Fortuna's Follies, which he created for his own company. The duo Elshout & Händeler are responsible for the last guest choreography in TWOOLS 4: Grip - For The Memory, a quartet for two men and two women.

In recent years, TWOOLS 1 to 4 have been performed exclusively in the Rotterdamse Schouwburg. It is high time that the rest of the Netherlands can experience this dance party as well. TWOOLS 4 will therefore be followed in October 2001 by TWOOLS On The Road, bringing together the best of the four editions in a single travel package.
