Circus, illusionism, variety and dance: the The Great Bean takes place in the atmosphere of the roaring twenties, the emergence of jazz, Hollywood and vaudeville on Broadway with new dance styles like charleston and tap dance.
With professional circus artists, magic acts and dance is The Great Bean a unique crossover of dance and entertainment.
Choreographer Ed Wubbe takes the audience into a theatrical world, full of glitz and glamor, but also with the tragic aspects of variety, with its seamier, darker side and heart-rending tragedy. The music touches different emotions, the infectious Gipsy jazz of Django Reinhardt and the magic of Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynth Suite ‘provide a smile and a tear.
