Rotterdam International
Duet Choreography Competition

Perhaps the most intimate form of dance. In a duet, two dancers challenge each other on stage. Sensual or stylized, confrontational or fragile, a duet can be all. For many fans, the duet is their favorite part of a dance performance.

Enjoy an evening full of duets in different dance styles during the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition. The competition shows dance talent from around the world. From the participants from the preliminary rounds on 27 and 28 June, the candidates will be chosen for the final on 29 June. Who will be the winner of the second edition of Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition?

The competition gives new choreographic talent the opportunity to present itself for a renowned jury. There are several prizes to be won, including an audience award and the possibility to make productions at one of the participating partner companies. The main prize consists of a production budget of € 100,000. RIDCC is an initiative of Maya Roest and Mischa van Leeuwen, both experienced dancers at Scapino Ballet Rotterdam: “We want to use our expertise to create opportunities for young makers and give the dance world a new impetus“.

On 27 and 28 June the preliminaries will be in the Kleine Zaal and on 29 June the final will be in the Grote Zaal. With a party afterwards!
