Alba Castillo

Alba Castillo was born in Valencia, Spain, and is a dancer / choreographer based in Basel, Switzerland.

As a dancer, Alba started her dance career at the age of 17 with dance company Teatres de la Generalitat Valenciana where she danced for two years. In 2007 she joined the Compañia Nacional de Danza 2 in Madrid, and she is currently a soloist with the Ballet Theater Basel.

In 2012 Alba started her choreographic career with a work called Bipolar Skin. The work was finalist in the International Choreographic Competition Hanover, received second prize at the Certamen Internacional de Coreografía Burgos & New York and won the audience prize at the 5th International Choreography Competition in Copenhagen. In 2018 she was nominated for a 21st. PREMIOS MAX de las artes escenicas (21st. Max awards in Spain), and received second prize at Synodales - Concours Chorégraphique Contemporain with her choreography The Breathing Room. In 2019 she won the gold medal and received the ‘best choreography’ award at the 5th Beijing Ballet and Choreography Competition with Before You Land and Remember me, like this.
